Bettina
Foothorap has been blowing glass in Colorado since 1979. She built the
furnace and annealing oven, as well as other equipment, needed to produce
her handblown glass. Molten glass is gathered in layers, blown, and
formed using specialized tools. The colors in her designs are made by
combining metal oxides such as cobalt and silver nitrate. Cooled pieces
are hand-ground and polished on the bottom. Bettina's attention to detail
is evident in her perfume bottles. Each stoppered bottle is hand-ground
to insure a tight fit. <= back to Foothorap |
